Fan Mail from David & Ellie!

No Comments Props By: taiga

The absolute best is getting props from the bride & groom themselves! Receiving these in the mail really makes our day!

Dear Mike & Simon:

Thank you for making our wedding day so enjoyable. The professionalism and flexibility from the day I first met up with Simon to the end of the reception with which you two have conducted yourselves made what could’ve been a crazy process into an easy-going and pleasant experience. Thank you for your hard work, for accommodating the frequently changing requests, and we wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors.

Best,
Chilan & David

Calvin & Eva’s 2 Minute Wedding Video (Fairy Tale Manor in Dallas, TX)

Happy Friday!

Check out this time lapsed goodness I whipped up for my good friends Calvin and Eva. The wifey and I flew to Dallas for their celebration (I pulled triple duty as guest/DJ/emcee) on Halloween weekend and had a blast!  I loved that their wedding was an east meets west extravaganza; from the classically swaggerific first dance to the traditional chinese tea ceremony and the heartwarming bridal family serenade. And oh yeah, folks got BUSY on the dance floor!

Congratulations Calvin & Eva!

p.s.  I make a little cameo towards the end.  TAIGA!

Throwback: Bernie & Tammy’s Wedding

2 Comments Mixes, Real Weddings By: taiga

Tammy & Bernie were one of our first real clients back in 2008. You might have watch/read/heard about them through news sites and/or blogs as Bernie proposed to Tammy by hacking the game Bejeweled for the Nintendo DS!

Their tastes in music stretched the whole spectrum of genres. At our first meeting, Tammy gushed about her LOVE of Mariah Carey, Madonna, Britney Spears, hip hop, boy bands, 80s/90s pop, funk, etc. All Bernie wanted was for us to introduce them for the first time to Bret Hart’s WWE theme music.  =P

I was cleaning up my archives and stumbled onto a live recording of their wedding. Here’s a taste (~30 minutes) of hip hop (hot) served with sides of boy band, Britney, and washed down with a bottle of vintage 90s pop.  Crystal Pepsi anyone?

Throwback: Plate by Plate 2009

No Comments Events, Philanthropic By: monica

We had the most amazing time DJing for Plate by Plate back in October 2009. Plate by Plate is an annual tasting benefit put on by our friends at Project by Project to raise funds for Asian Americans for Equality, in order to provide immigrant assistance, affordable housing, and economic development to diverse communities during this economic crisis.

The food was awesome – chocolate souffle cupcakes from Kyotofu, tuna tartare from Geisha, and ice cream from Van Leeuwen…it was as if the best of NYC all crammed into one place on one night. The entertainment was pretty high quality too – we got to see a few bands, one of which is called Stone Forest Ensemble and featured a crazy beatboxer, cellist, violinist, and drummer…it was an odd combination to see but when they got up on the stage, everybody was like “WHOA!”

And of course, DJ Taiga & DJ Mike got people out on the floor dancing. That was when Jay-Z’s Empire State of Mind first became an anthem for New Yorkers. I think they played it 5 times to that night and the NYC crowd ate it up. All in all, it was a good night… good food, good music, good times!

Blog Grand Re-Opening

No Comments Remixologists By: taiga

For the 5 of you who’ve been visiting this blog over this past year (2 of whom being me and the wifey), you all might have noticed the lack of… basically anything and everything.  For that we are sorry!  We’ve been busy working out the kinks on our new website (coming soon whenever it’s ready) as well as doing a lot of traveling and DJing.  Mostly fun stuff!

As the current wedding season winds down and we push towards the new year, our early pre-2011 resolution is to share with you folks what we’re all about.  That’s the plan anyway.  Plan B is to just wing it!
Weeeeeeeeeeee!

Our twitter & facebook pages are up (look at the column on the right).  And feel free to look us up and contact us if you have any questions, complaints, or marriage proposals (for Mike [right] & Tristan [middle] only please).

If you’ve stumbled onto the page by pure accident (read: fate) and have NO idea who we are, you can start by reading our relatively short bio/motto:

we are a collective of DJs who started specializing in weddings after attending too many where the DJs were subpar or even pure clowns. we love to make people dance and our mix of music reflects that. we keep it classy on the mic and provide top notch sound/lighting systems to boot.

our dj experiences span many years from rocking house parties to clubs to charity galas to corporate events to weddings. the music we play at any event is solely determined by the people in attendance. we can comfortably cover music from the last 50 years from soul to funk to disco to rock, 80s, 90s, pop, hip hop, electro, top 40 to international flavors like bhangra and kpop. we’re able to mix it all together seamlessly and provide a well concocted blend that fuels nonstop dancing.

BOOM.
