I (Taiga) remember helping Korneel & Laurie plan their Bear Mountain Inn wedding from Belgium where they are living. Laurie’s family were all classical musicians and were very particular about the quality & selection of tracks played during the cocktail hour & reception. Korneel’s family & friends hail from Belgium and we incorporated some “hometown” flavor during dinner & dancing. It was a super unique wedding from a music perspective and I had a lot of fun playing conductor for the day!
We helped Jorge & Donna celebrate their Astra NYC wedding about a year or so ago. Jorge and his groomsmen wore their Barongs (formal shirts from the Philippines) and I (Taiga) incorporated some cultural elements during the reception as well. And who could forget one of their guests, family friend Colin Farrell (yes that Colin Farrell). You can imagine the hysteria that caused among the others guests in the house! Anyways, enjoy these pictures courtesy of Ronald Monteron and check out Jorge’s kind words from his review below.
I hired DJ Taiga (The Remixologists) for my wedding this past weekend, December 1, and he is what the Yelp reviews say about him, an awesome DJ! Since my first contact with him back in July 2012, DJ Taiga (Simon) has been very accommodating and responsive to my emails up to my wedding date. He didn’t mind that I kept emailing him with multiple song requests and amending the wedding schedule, even on my wedding date. He played the right mix of songs from oldies to current stuff. All my guests complemented to me that he was the right DJ for a great wedding. When my special guest, Colin Farrell showed up, DJ Taiga was surprised but he and his staff kept it cool and did not ask to take photos with Colin, that showed me that DJ Taiga was a true professional and I respected him for it.
So Yelpers, if you are getting married soon or have any events coming up that need a a great DJ, contact The Remixologists and ask for DJ Taiga (Simon). He will work with you to make your event vision come true!
We love weddings in Philly as it brings back great memories of our college days and the pictures often capture the great history and culture of the City of Brotherly Love. I still remember trekking from West Philly down to the Reading Terminal Market on Saturdays to try all the different foods and shop for fresh produce. In any case, this edition features DJ Mike helping Brooke & Paul celebrate their Horticulture Center wedding in the heart of Philadelphia… from handling the sound during their beautiful ceremony to capping off the night with a vicious dance party!
One of our favorites from 2013 had to be Julianne & Nick’sLaurita Winery wedding in New Jersey. Not only was it featured on Style Me Pretty, I’ve listened to Mike rave about the energy of the crowd & the rug cutting on the dance floor and read the same from the bride’s thank you letter. And well… pictures don’t lie!
Check out these immaculate pictures of the details, joy, and folks leaving it all out on the dance floor courtesy of Megan @ Lime Green Photography!
We here at The Remixologists pride ourselves on being able to multitask. We like to believe that we can do anything for any couple that calls on us. We’ve been DJ’s, emcees, bakers, photographers, audio technicians, video specialists…we even once had a DJ who decided he wanted to be both the DJ and the groom (*ahem* Taiga). Well, I (9-Volt) decided to add to that list by attempting the Best Man/DJ combo/Emcee for my college roommate, Gary’s, Battery Gardens Wedding. Fortunately, rather than leave me to attempt this insanity, DJ Mike was able to come up and handle the DJ/Emcee responsibilities so that I could focus on being the best Best Man I could be (and honestly, we’re all glad he did).
Susan and Gary were married on August 11th at the Battery Gardens in New York City. Though the dancing was cut a bit short, DJ Mike was able to rock the crowd with a mix of Motown and Top 40. In fact, despite only being able to spin for about 40 minutes, DJ Mike kept everyone on the floor the entire time, so 40 minutes felt like 2 hours.
I’ve decided to dedicate Volume 40 of the DJ 9-Volt collection to Susan and Gary. I recorded it in the studio as though it was me who spun the wedding. The first few tracks were the entrance songs for the Bridal Party and the final song was the couple’s first dance. The mix’s title, “Music, Joy, and Love” is a nod to the toast I delivered in their honor. Check out the mix and more pictures from the wedding below!
Congratulations, Susan and Gary. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day.. Go Quakers!
