We are a collective of like-minded DJs who started specializing in weddings after attending too many where the DJs were generic, subpar, or just plain terrible. We love to make people dance and our mix of music reflects that. We keep it classy on the mic and provide top notch sound systems to boot.
Our DJ experiences span many years from rocking house parties to clubs to charity galas to corporate events to weddings. The music we play at any event is solely determined by the people in attendance. We can comfortably cover music from the last 50 years from soul to funk to disco to rock, swing, ballroom, 80s, 90s, pop, hip hop, electro, top 40, indie, and international flavors like bhangra and kpop. We’re able to mix it all together seamlessly and provide a well concocted blend that fuels nonstop dancing!
Whether your wedding is held in a ballroom, on the beach, or in a barn, it’s a time of joyous celebration and intense partying! But it’s also an unique production that involves many moving parts! And that’s where we step in with a personal approach to our craft. We work with clients closely throughout the entire wedding planning process to ensure we:
1) get our client’s musical vision and
2) sort out ALL the little details of the big day
And on your wedding day, we make sure that you remember us only as the background ninjas who ran your reception smoothly and provided the tunes for a smashing dance party!
Meet the DJs
Simon Tai (DJ Taiga)
Simon started DJing in 1999 while earning his B.A. at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to serving as a DJ and eventually music director at radio station WQHS in Philadelphia, he worked on his craft spinning house parties and various school functions.
Taiga was soon discovered by local party promoters and has spun at some of Philly’s top clubs & lounges (short list: Shampoo, Transit, Club 27, Level, TPDS, The Armory, M Lounge) over the years while also branching out to rocking corporate events and weddings at iconic locations such as Moshulu, Franklin Field, and the Institute of Contemporary Art.
In 2006, Taiga moved to New York City and has spun at top NYC hot spots including Avenue, Marquee, The Jane, SL, Greenhouse, Hudson Terrace, Tenjune, Pacha, Griffin, Soho Grand, Tribeca Grand, Sutra Lounge, and Cabanas @ The Maritime Hotel. His versatile open format style mixes hip hop, pop, rock, funk, soul/R&B, dance/electro, international music, and everything in between to concoct a unique flavor and signature flow that fuels even the most diverse of crowds.
Michael Mariano (DJ Mike)
Mike is a modern day renaissance man. His journey in DJing started in the mid 90′s as the founder of Bassline Productions in Philadelphia. Since then, Mike has brought his special blend of top-40, trance, progressive house, and freestyle to clubs and parties all over North America and Southeast Asia. Bassline has been a fixure in the Philadelphia party and club scene for over 15 years, thanks in no small part to Mike’s vision. Mike continues to train aspiring DJ’s, further augmenting a list of proteges which includes Taiga, 9-Volt, and countless others. In addition to being a concert pianist & all around music savant, Mike is also an accomplished chef, baker, and photographer.
They say home is where the heart is. And today, Mike continues to share his love of music with the people of Philadelphia, though he still finds time for the occasional trip to New York and Los Angeles. Mike’s has been recognized on many occasions for his contributions to the Philadelphia community, particularly at his alma mater of the University of Pennsylvania. A member of Penn’s 2000 and 2007 graduating classes, Mike is the University’s go-to DJ for official university events including The Taste of Penn and Barrio Fiesta.
Originally hailing from Guam, DJ 9-Volt (b. Tristan Nery) began his career in 2000 as a member of Bassline Productions in Philadelphia. In 2002, 9-Volt graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and followed his passion for public service to the Washington DC area.
In DC, 9-Volt was tapped as a resident DJ at Daedalus, and has been a guest DJ at all of D.C.’s hottest spots, including 1223, Dragonfly, Lima, K-Street Lounge, Cafe Asia, Cafe Japone, Avenue, Eyebar, and Muse.
He is currently a resident at Temple lounge in Arlington. Additionally, 9-Volt has spun weddings and parties all over the country, including stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. His smooth blends are matched only by his smooth moves on the dancefloor where he provides linedancing lessons for you and all of your guests.
DJ Colin Watson
Colin’s musical journey began early in life – as a toddler, he grooved to his parents’ funk and soul records & as a teenager, he enjoyed the golden era of hip hop through his sisters’ boom box. By college, Colin was well-versed in a variety of musical genres, and he quickly became dissatisfied with what he heard on the radio.
Tired of listening to him complain about the quality of radio DJs on every car ride, Colin’s sister dared him to do better at an upcoming party she was throwing. Never backing down from challenges, Colin quickly learned DJing basics and performed his challenge with flying colors. Realizing his newfound talent, Colin practiced relentlessly and continued his training on both vinyl turntables & digital controllers. Diligently working on his craft and rocking crowds at school functions and local venues, Colin soon earned the spot of resident DJ at GPSCY in New Haven.
After graduating from Yale in 2010 with a B.A. in Political Science, Colin moved to the NYC/NJ area and expanded his horizon playing a wide variety of settings requiring a wide selection of music. He has spun top 40 & hip hop at corporate/non-profit events, EDM at clubs, bhangra at Indian fusion parties, and everything under the sun at weddings (often with founding Remixologist DJ Taiga). Drawing from the diverse musical knowledge from his childhood to his experiences in New Haven & the Big Apple, Colin has acquired the versatility essential to playing to any crowd at any time. We are proud to have him on board to carry The Remixologists torch and rock dance floors near and far.
